6th Weekend+More

Friday night at our local theater's premiere of the indie film Humboldt County I was allowed to show the teaser trailer for the film. It felt great seeing our actors up on the big screen and hearing Tinyfolk through the huge speakers.

I spoke one of the co-directors Darren Grodsky (check out the blog on the right) and he gave some good advice and hopefully we'll get in contact soon. Check out his film, it's like Garden State, but without the gimmicks and a much better sense of space.

Saturday's hippie reshoot was a blast. We got about 20 or more extras (even my sister!) to come out and enjoy the nice weather (for december). We had people smokin', dancin', singin' and even some nudity!

On Sunday night we filmed a little confrontation scene between Sylvia and Charlotte and Johanna. I assumed that during finals week everyone would be stationary and studying, yet I was wrong and everyone was out driving to and fro from library. The sound was so bad by Student Health (our location) that we had to quickly find somewhere else to shoot.

Luckily we found a cool, eerie hallway in HSSB. Everything looks great too.

Monday night we shot a scene with Nicholas in his room painting. It was tiny and laid back, but fun.

AND the best news of all is that our film has received the URCA (Undergraduate Research And Creative Activities) grant from UC Santa Barbara. I do not know how much yet, but I will know (by snail mail) in a couple of days. Congratulations everyone on crew and cast!

To put it in LOL terms, "Wiiz provin' to all da haterz that we are legitz."

Until The Very Last Moment 1st Trailer

5th Weekend + More

On Saturday we recorded in Ellison Hall for the classroom scene and Noah Zwieg, a grad student and TA, played essentially himself but as a fundamentalist TA. It was fun. We even finished early that day.

Sunday we recorded in a last minute location in Kerr Hall for the art exhibit. The footage looks beautiful and all the paintings looked cool. We were running behind because it took way longer than I had anticipated to dress the set.

We are taking a week break for thanksgiving.

I'm working on the forth draft of the script.

Our crew is trying to get everything together for the hippie reshoot, in terms of extras.

The trailer is coming sooner than you think.

4th Weekend

Saturday's shoot was fun if a bit sluggish and way too hot. Had some sounds problems, but I think it'll be okay.

Sunday's shoot was super quick because we couldn't schedule anything big. Literally two shots of Pat.

We made lots of paintings for the art exhibition scene though. wee!

3rd Weekend + Veteran's Day

So our third weekend was our toughest yet, but we managed to prevail overall.

Saturday we filmed the Java Jones conversation piece and had to deal with a bit of construction but the staff at Java was really gracious with their time.

We also filmed the musical sequence with Pat and that was a lot of fun being out in the streets of IV getting genuine reactions against them (He had a sign that said everyone is a sinner, etc.).

On Sunday we realized that no matter how much food and film credit you entice people with, no one at UCSB wants to wake up before 1pm. So we had to restructure our hippie sequence, but we got a cool new little sequence out of it all. We are rescheduling the hippie reshoot on Dec. 6th.

On Veteran's Day we took a small crew of four and filmed two scenes down by Campus Point and the Lagoon. Both went really well and it was a beautiful day.

Look for a trailer hopefully after thanksgiving!

2nd Weekend

The shoot was very small because of the Halloween week, but we did the small computer scene with Billy and a short segment with Charlotte.

We had some light changing issues, but nothing too alarming.

Charlotte was perfect!

First Weekend Of Shooting is Upon Us & More News

All three males have been cast:

Pat: Jason Ko
Billy: Nico Kiefer
Nicholas: Josh Domingo

Auditions for Charlotte were held yesterday, we had about 7 girls show up and we should know which one to choose by Sunday.

The BIG NEWS is that we are filming this weekend!

The four scenes all feature Sarah Cho as Sylvia and one scene has Jason Ko as Pat. It should be interesting indeed, but these scenes are a good warm up for what's to come. We are building a dolly on Saturday and attempting our first sunset scenes on Sunday. Both days are night shoots (a new one for me).

I'll have pics next week.

O_O

This is going to be a roller coaster of a production.

Our Charlotte is out and so is our producer, but we have more interns and a Production Manager and professor support.

Auditions this Thursday for the guys.

Until The Very Last Moment Submitted

On Friday I turned in the submission form, five copies of the script and a preliminary budget (courtesy of my producer Jenny McNamara). The film is the first submitted for FLMST106 (Dana Welch in the office even made the box for our film). We are ahead of the game. The Pitch is September 29th, 2008 from 1-3pm on campus and will be judged by a panel of like five people(?).

Now I have to practice the pitch (with Jenny when she gets back) and we are getting preliminary concept storyboards done (should be around in a week).

"Hold fast what you have till I come." ;)

Until The Very Last Moment: Ground Zero

So I present to you a prequel of sorts to my potential FLMST 106 film. It was also conceived at around the same time as the film itself. I hope you like!

And to note, this is my first true short film in about three years! Chimes Of Gaviota counts as a long short film to me :P

Oh, and thank you everyone who made this thing possible!

Until The Very Last Moment

It's coming (cuz we are working hard and we have a damn good script).

Until The Very Last Moment is about a girl (Johanna) who has to decide whether or not she believes that the world is coming to an end. This is complicated by the fact that a large number of people know the world is ending the same way animals can detect natural disasters.

My crew and I are pitching it to get into FLMST 106 (short crew-based film class) in the fall this year at UCSB.

Day 1 & 2, 7th Weekend Of Chimes

My apologies for taking so long to put this up. That weekend was my last weekend in Santa Barbara before I left for New Zealand and it was probably our biggest day filming.

The footage in this first video is all from the small morning shoot where we filmed Samantha and Paul using an amazing 8mm camera.

The footage here is from day 2 of that weekend and is focused on the park scene. Funny stuff. I ditch the camera and try my hand at some "acting." It was a beautiful day that day too.
